AGUA BLANCA
Agua Blanca, situated inside the Machalilla National Park, has an extension of 10,000 Ha. There are about 50 families and 400 inhabitants that are part of the Agua Blanca community. Most of the communal territory was inside a huge farm that produced bananas, coffee, corn and vegetables. Decades ago, the local people collected tagua nuts, extracted timber and excavated holes to gather archeological pieces. Because of the excessive exploitation of natural resources and extraction of cultural evidence, the area of Agua Blanca developed into an impoverished region.
Agua Blanca is an exceptional tourist destination because it includes nature and culture. The ecological features of the area can easily lure nature oriented visitors who are eager to observe the typical flora and fauna of the tropical dry and fog forest.
